The pancreatitis dog came back a few days later for
euthanasia. He (predictably, since he had virtually no treatment) looked like
crap.
I also had a kitten come in for lethargy the other day. I
found a kidney the size of Texas. History and clinical signs appear to be
consistent with FIP; titers are pending. (I happen to especially hate FIP after
losing a foster kitten to it. It’s a horrible disease that kills young kittens
and cats. There is no cure and no way of predicting who will get it.)
Ugh, Having dealt with both of those scenarios on the same day as well (as a tech, not a vet, thankfully) I agree that is a BAD day. We had to euth a sweet, old Golden with pancreatitis after he ate the entire dessert table at a party, and the owners didn't want to treat, and a "bloated cat" on the same day was tough to say the least.
ReplyDeleteNot quite as bad as the day a mom and 9 year old daughter came in with their "Pregnant" cat who ended up having a huge abd mass, not kittens and after our Dr. got called into an emergency, I had to deliver the bad news. then sobs from the child saying "Please don't kill my cat!!" HEARTBREAKING!
